Grout Atlas aims to be accurate, and accuracy depends on fixing mistakes quickly and openly. If you find a statement on this site that is wrong, outdated, unclear in a way that could mislead, or inconsistent with a current standard or manufacturer data sheet, we want to hear about it. This page explains how to report a problem, how reports are handled, and where corrections are recorded.

What counts as a correction

A correction is any change that fixes a factual error or a misleading statement. Examples include:

  • A number that is wrong or outside the range supported by the cited standard or typical data sheets (a joint width, cure time, mixing ratio, pH value or coverage figure).
  • A standard cited incorrectly, such as attributing a requirement to the wrong ANSI or ISO document.
  • A safety statement that is incomplete or could lead someone to handle a product unsafely.
  • A calculator formula or assumption that produces wrong results.
  • A product category described inaccurately.

Routine updates (adding a section, refreshing a figure after a standard revision, improving wording, fixing a broken link or a typo) are part of normal maintenance. They change the page's updated date when meaningful, but they are not logged as corrections unless they fix an error that could have misled a reader.

How to report an error

Email corrections@groutatlas.com. To help us review the report quickly, please include:

  • The page URL where the problem appears.
  • The statement you believe is wrong, quoted or clearly described.
  • A source that supports the correction, if you have one: the name and section of a standard, a manufacturer TDS or SDS (with the product name and revision date if shown), trade association guidance, or published research.

Reports without a source are still welcome. Practical experience that contradicts a page is useful, and it often points us to a document we should check. A source simply makes the review faster.

What happens after you report

  1. Review. The report is checked against our sourcing hierarchy: consensus standards first, then manufacturer data sheets, then trade association guidance, materials science literature and established trade practice.
  2. Fix. If the page is wrong, it is corrected. If the issue is a matter of product variation rather than an error, the page may be clarified to say that products differ and to point readers to the specific TDS.
  3. Updated date. The page's updated date changes to reflect the revision.
  4. Disclosure. Substantive corrections are noted on the page itself, briefly stating what was changed, and are added to the log below.
  5. Related pages. If the same error appears elsewhere on the site, such as in a calculator or a related guide, those pages are corrected too.

We may reply to let you know the outcome, but we cannot always respond individually. If a report does not lead to a change, it is usually because the existing statement is supported by a higher-ranking source, or because it already describes a typical range and defers to the product TDS.

Corrections are for errors in our content. If you need help with a specific installation, the contact page explains what we can and cannot help with, and the grout problems section and grout problem diagnoser are good places to start.

What we do not change

We do not remove or soften accurate information at the request of a manufacturer, retailer or installer, and we do not alter pages in exchange for payment or other consideration. Product data supplied by a manufacturer is welcome when it is published in a current TDS or SDS, and it is weighed the same way as any other source.
